I used to own records. When I was young, if you wanted to listen to music you had to own records. Or cassettes, but that’s another story. Now records are popular again. We have realised that it’s good to hold music in your hand, browse through music and listen to music, not just stream it. For me, it has become a ritual, both in the playing and the purchasing of records. I remember the feeling of finding a record I had been looking for or discovering something that I hadn’t. For me, time travel is real. When I step into a record shop it is like stepping back in time. When I put on a record, it is like being back in the past. Nostalgia is a dangerous disease, which I am afflicted by without a doubt. It is not completely a case of reliving my youth, as I have discovered many records that I have never had before, however it is certainly living in the past as this page is going to have precious few records released after the 1980’s. I think the albums which I write about deserve curation, so I hope you enjoy reading about them. Maybe you also remember some of them too.
